Place is clean and staff friendly

It is not that close to the city centre as I read on other reviews(and that was the reason why I chose it). It's up the hill and there is a construction site to pass through and all around the hotel. during the night is quite noisy and you can hear people next door and early in the morning there are the workers starting their shift. Anyway is good value for money and if you want to spend just a few days in Bilbao is perfectly fine.

Staff is very friendly. Pension in a nicer area close to the river. Breakfast was iincluded in price. Very basic but sufficient.

Hotel is a bit noisy including the beds.

The location. The price. The bathroom.

Besides the bed, there was only a chair in the room, no table or desk!

Value for money is excellent. Staff are friendly and helpful. The room was spotless and towels changed each night. This is our second stay despite anticipating metro works noise. This time it was quieter and we were there for the opening of a new, larger breakfast area, now quite adequate for the number of guests. The Guggenheim and town are easily accessible with a short walk.

The only 'problem' is the fact that, especially if you have children, there are hardly any restaurants for evening meals with less than a 15 min walk. However, towards the old town, or across the Salve bridge one can find a variety of small bistros to eat well, as early as 8p.m. The walk by the river at night is spectacular and an evening outing in itself.

Personnel is friendly and helpful, the room was clean, the location is easy to reach from the station, not far from the Old town.

Problems with wifi: most of the time it was unavailable. The personnel speak some English, but not quite well. They tried to do their best still.

Nothing. I would only stop here again if hell froze over

The hotel was at the top of a hill in the middle of major roadworks. The hotel itself was covered in scaffolding. It was like living in a building site. If that wasn't bad enough there was building work going on in the hotel immediately under our room with a hammer drill until 8pm The room was dirty with dirty hand marks on the floors. We had to pay 10€ extra for parking although it would be impossible to park elsewhere. Even then they tried to charge us 5€ more than on our Booked.net receipt. The receipt showed breakfast included. Not only was it not included but there was nowhere for it to be served. There were a few tables and chairs and a fridge in reception but no water so to make coffee the kettle had to be filled in the toilet. This is a DUMP an I will NEVER stop here again.

the staff were fine even helpfull when we asked for directions to get to the port. the room was clean

to have to pay for a small space with 4 tables chairs under a stair well and tea coffee etc on a bench..butter jam and milk in a fridge that was none to clean and juice in cartoons that were all half open and stale ...then when we asked for food we were given a loaf of bread and a small bundle of stale buns this was NOT worth 10 euro. also the fact that we had to pay another 10 euro to put the car under ground in a car park was not good. to find the hotel and then trying to park to get cases of was not easy..it needs better directions. our room was so noisy the windows wouldnt open the shutter was stuck and wouldnt open but when we looked the out best left unlooked at. the staff were so nice to us it did make it a better exsperiance tho'

Cost effective for a nights stay. Visiting the Guggenheim it was a great stop over location

Coverage of wifi was poor. Beds were uncomfortable.

Our stay at the pension La Salve was good the only problem was the walk up the hill to the pension. The view is not the problem of the Pension but the extension of the Metro which will only help the all ready excellent transport system.

The staff were friendly and responded to requests. The room and public areas were clean.

We could not keep the car in the garage area during our stay in spite of being told that pre-booking wasn't necessary. Parking elsewhere was extremely difficult. There is major roadworking taking place and the most direct access route was closed. We had scaffolding and a walkway on scaffolding boards right outside our room. The breakfast area is a small sectioned off area of reception and only comfortably seats 6. Only toast was available for breakfast and we had to make it ourselves. Although a hairdyer was supposed to be provided we had to request one from reception. Some electrical switches in the room were falling off the wall. Curtains didn't cover all the window and street lighting flooded the room all night.

The staff were very helpful and approachable. The services were good, they cleaned the room well and made me feel at ease. The breakfast was adecuate to get going in the morning. It is close to the city, but be prepared to walk a bit to get a tram or metro because these are not as close.

  • Group of friends
    8.8

The staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel was very clean. It was extremely good value and well situated for the city centre, Guggenheim etc.

it was a bitof a shock to find it situated in the middle if a building site, there are major excavations on the route up to the hotel. Also it is a very steep climb,so not suitable for everyone. It needs to be explained to people that whilst it may be 400 metres from the Guggenheim, this is via a lift up to the road!

  • Older travelers
    5.0

It was right beside motorway, very difficult to access, up a very steep hill, and in the middle of a building site, so extremely noisy, we did not sleep very much!

  • Family with children
    7.8

This hotel was very lean, the staff were helpful and it has a good location only a short walk from the Guggenheim. There is free, safe parking near by or you can pay 10 Euro to go in the garage. The breakfast was good.
